Sun Procedure

During October–March sunhats will be worn, and sunblock will be applied, while outside after morning tea (with sunblock being reapplied in the afternoon).  During the months of September and April the use of sunhats/sunblock will be only if necessary.

Whānau may supply their own sunblock for their children.

When sunblock is applied at Preschool it will be noted on the Sunblock sheet, which also notes which children are sensitive/have allergies to sunblock.

Experiences will be set up in shaded areas as much as possible on very hot days.

Named sun hats are to be provided by whānau for their children.  Preschool will also have spares available, if necessary.

Teachers will model the wearing of sunhats and sunblock.

Shoulders should be covered (eg Tshirts) at all times.  Teachers will use their discretion for experiences, such as hose play on very hot days (for limited times).
